Captain Marvel (Series 1 1968-1979)
Marvel’s Captain Marvel comic book series launched in May 1968, following the introduction of the Kree warrior Mar-Vell in Marvel Super-Heroes #12. The series followed Mar-Vell’s evolution from a Kree observer of Earth into the superhero Captain Marvel, featuring contributions from creators including Roy Thomas, Gene Colan, Jim Starlin and others. The original series ran for 62 issues, concluding with Captain Marvel #62 in May 1979.
