Wonder Woman (Series 1 1942-1986)
DC Comics’ Wonder Woman comic book series launched in June 1942, following the Amazonian heroine’s debut in All Star Comics #8 and her first cover appearance in Sensation Comics #1. Created by William Moulton Marston and artist H. G. Peter, the series followed Diana Prince and her adventures as Wonder Woman from the Golden Age through the Silver and Bronze Ages. The original series continued through issue #329 in February 1986.
Key Issues & Collectibility
The original Wonder Woman 1942 series features numerous key issues, first appearances and important developments in DC Comics history. Highlights include Wonder Woman #1 (first issue of her solo series and expanded origin), #5 (first appearance of Doctor Psycho), #6 (first appearance of the Cheetah, Priscilla Rich), #9 (first Giganta), #98 (new Silver Age origin of Wonder Woman), #105 (new origin and first Wonder Girl) and #204 (return of Wonder Woman’s powers and costume following her Diana Prince era).
